Sometimes the best stories begin in the most unexpected ways.
I didn’t grow up dreaming of being a photographer. I wasn’t the girl with a camera in hand or stacks of photo albums in her room. But one day, everything changed—thanks to a borrowed camera and a backyard wedding.
The Day That Changed Everything
My sister-in-law’s friend was getting married. It was a simple backyard wedding, and she didn’t have a photographer.
She asked if I could capture it—and I said yes.
The only problem?
I didn’t even own a camera. I had to borrow one from a friend just to make it happen.
It wasn’t a fancy wedding. It wasn’t a styled shoot. But something about being there, freezing those moments in time, made me feel completely alive. I realized right then: this is what I want to do.
Building a Business with Babies on My Hip and Books in My Hand
From that day forward, I started learning everything I could about photography. I dove into editing, posing, lighting, and business—between diaper changes, late-night nursing school study sessions, and working shifts to help support my family.
I built Haley Sizemore Photography during some of the busiest and most chaotic seasons of my life.
But also the most beautiful ones.
Being a mom to two little girls and a nurse-in-training shaped the way I see the world. It made me slow down, notice the in-between moments, and hold onto emotion in a way only real life teaches you to.
My Brand Today—Rooted in Love and Wild Adventure
Today, I’m proud to say I’m a full-time wedding and elopement photographer. I travel all over to document love stories—from wide-open fields to mountaintop vow exchanges—and I bring a piece of that journey with me every time I pick up my camera.
I’m not just here to take photos.
I’m here to tell stories—real, messy, emotional, and wildly beautiful ones.
To Anyone Chasing a Dream—Start Where You Are
If you’re sitting on a dream and waiting for the “right time”—I hope my story shows you that you don’t need the perfect gear, a perfect plan, or perfect timing.
You just need a little courage and a whole lot of heart.
Because big things really can start in the backyard.
